A Rockledge resident, Mark Haro of 1420 Huntington Lane, used the council’s public-comment period on March 18 to allege serious misconduct by city employees and to request a recorded public hearing before the City Council.
Haro said he wants the council to “expose the State-created danger caused by employees of the City,” and he alleged that the Police Division “established a 17-day medical blockade via a retaliatory trespass that resulted in the amputation of his cousin’s leg.” He said he had met with Mayor Thomas J. Price, City Manager Dr. Brenda Fettrow and a city attorney previously and described that meeting as held in violation of the Sunshine Law.
Councilwoman Sammie Brown Martin moved to extend Haro’s three-minute public-comment period so he could finish; the motion failed for lack of a second. Martin then asked Haro what he expects from the city; Haro said he wants accountability and an investigation. Martin asked him to submit his requests in writing to staff and to copy the council. City Attorney Garrett Olsen clarified that a motion was on the table for consideration and later explained Haro’s time had expired and that the council had given direction to staff.
No council member committed to a public hearing during the meeting, and no formal investigative action was recorded during the session. The council’s recorded response at the meeting was to direct Haro to submit a written request to staff; the meeting record does not reflect any follow-up timeline or staff assignment made at the time.
