The Duchesne County Library Board presented its 2025 annual report on March 18, highlighting rising usage, new services and improved finances.
Director Daniel Mauchley told the board the system recorded about 95,000 physical checkouts and 64,000 digital checkouts in 2025, and that nearly 6,000 patrons were listed as active users. The library reported 94,400 total visits and high demand for conference rooms, Wi‑Fi and public computers. "The new Blackstone Unlimited subscription is seeing increased use for the third month in a row," Mauchley said during the budget and statistics review.
The report listed several program and outreach achievements: the launch of Blackstone Unlimited, a Tabiona outreach program that logged roughly 1,200 checkouts, continued outreach to Fruitland, Altamont and the County Jail, and participation in three elementary school parent nights. The Duchesne Branch reopened following a remodel, and summer reading programs were described as successful.
Financial details in the report included $19,500 received in grants and a $3,000 Tech Enhancement Grant earmarked to replace staff computers purchased in 2018. The board noted that library revenues covered operational costs for the first time in several years. The system also received the Quality Library Award from the Utah State Library in 2025.
Operational items noted in the annual review included completion of a Wi‑Fi upgrade at the Duchesne Branch and ongoing roof-leak repairs at the Roosevelt Branch that staff said are hopefully resolved. The report also announced a new basic technology course added to the library's offerings.
Procedural business at the meeting included approval of the February 2026 minutes; Deb Evans moved to approve the minutes as written and Jesse Walker seconded the motion, which the board passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 5:07 p.m.; the minutes were recorded as pending approval at the next regular meeting.
