Fulton County adopts 2026 budget, holds tax rate steady

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted Wednesday to adopt the county’s fiscal year 2026 budget and approved a tax levy resolution that keeps tax rates unchanged.

Fiscal Administrator Sue Reed and CFO Mike Lamb presented the proposed 2026 budget, and Reed told commissioners there had been no changes since the budget was publicly advertised. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to adopt the budget; the motion passed with all in favor.

The board also approved Resolution 8 of 2025, the County’s Tax Levy and Appropriation Resolution, which the commissioners said implements the budget without a tax increase for 2026. Commissioners Randy H. Bunch (chair), Steven L. Wible (vice-chair) and Hervey P. Hann voted in favor.

The budget adoption followed routine approvals earlier in the meeting, including accounts payable and the December 2025 pension report presented by HR Administrator Mary Huston.

County officials noted that procurement and service contracts for 2026—such as retaining Keller Engineer, Inc.—will be formally addressed at the county’s Reorganizational Meeting on January 6, 2026. The board’s adoption of the budget completes the county’s annual appropriation process and authorizes staff to begin implementing the 2026 spending plan.
