Fulton County approves $230,699 State grant for 911 systems and network maintenance

Fulton County commissioners voted to accept a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support maintenance and upgrades to the county’s 911 and related communications infrastructure.

EMA/911 Director Brian Barton reviewed the grant request for the board, saying the funds are to be applied toward SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade and Fulton ILEC maintenance. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant; the motion passed with all in favor.

The board also moved forward on staffing for the 911 center: Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to hire Troy Wagaman as a per-diem 911 dispatcher, effective pending required clearances. A brief Salary Board meeting at 9:48 a.m. set the dispatcher’s salary, according to the minutes.

Commissioners said the grant award and the new hire aim to maintain emergency-dispatch capability and system reliability across the SouthCentral Mountain service area and Fulton County’s NG911 components. Implementation details and any required match or reporting obligations were not specified in the minutes and will be handled by EMA/911 staff.
