Resident says Boca Square construction site is unsecured; city staff to follow up

At the public-request portion of the March 26 meeting, resident Carrie Gallagher told the council a construction site at 957 Southwest 12th Street in Boca Square is not secured at night or on weekends and that construction appears stalled, creating a safety concern.

"It's not being secured at night, Monday through Friday. It's not being secured on the weekends," Gallagher said, and added she had provided photographs and reported the issue to code enforcement. Gallagher said she feared a child, adult or squatter could be harmed if the site remained accessible.

Mayor Singer and staff thanked Gallagher for raising the safety concern. Mr. Brown said this was the first he had heard of the specific incident and that staff would follow up and be in contact with her to address the code-enforcement matter.
