County staff review Pelorus Vision payroll portal; IT to assess cybersecurity and costs

Human Resource Director Judy Stevenson and Payroll & Benefits Administrator Jamie Park briefed commissioners on Pelorus Vision, a secure web-based extension of the county's Pelorus payroll software, at the March 16 meeting.

Park described features for employees—online timesheets, time-off requests, reimbursement uploads, W-2 access and direct-deposit updates—and tools for supervisors and administrators including timesheet approvals, geofence/IP restrictions and automated payroll loading. Stevenson said adopting the portal could reduce paper processes and improve payroll accuracy.

Commissioners and staff discussed cybersecurity concerns and cost. Payroll & Benefits Administrator Park said the vendor charges $4.00 per employee per month. Information Systems Director Taylor Warr said he would evaluate the program and help determine cyber risk before the county decides on procurement. No procurement decision or contract award was made at the meeting.
