The Cloud County Board of Commissioners discussed operational and staffing matters at its April 8 meeting in Concordia, including competitive bids for a trailer and a personnel reorganization consolidating two county jobs.
Solid Waste Director Mike Hake told the board the county received two bids for a trailer: Larry's Trailer Sales & Service submitted a bid of $79,000 and Travis Body & Trailer bid $89,600, both prices quoted without a trade allowance. Hake said Jewell County will inspect the trade trailer this week; the board did not take a purchase vote at the meeting.
Separately, the board discussed and approved updated job descriptions that combine the County Highway Administrator and the County Weed Director into a single position with a single wage. The minutes record the change in job descriptions and wage approach but do not specify the final wage figure in the published minutes.
Highway Administrator Andy Asch also reported that work is continuing on 90th Road and that the bridge on Meridian Road between Jade and Key is now open. The board recognized the termination of Marshall Charbonneau, equipment operator, effective April 12, and honored Stacie LaBarge as the county's Employee of the Month.
No formal purchase action for the trailer was recorded; procurement decisions will be deferred pending inspection of the trade unit and further board consideration.
