City Manager Brown told the Boca Raton City Council on April 24 that the Boca Bash event will close Wildflower and Silver Palm parks this Saturday and that the city will manage event impacts with assistance from state and local partners.
"We will be ready to manage the event as best we can with assistance from state and local partners," Brown said. Brown also announced the city is underwriting the Chamber of Commerce breakfast on Thursday, May 9 at the Broken Sound Club and noted the mayor will be presented at that event.
In council reports, Council member Nicklaus announced the recent hiring of a full-time transportation analyst, Pia Hanson Nunu, calling it a step toward pursuing League of American Bicyclists Silver status for the city. Nicklaus also summarized a regional rail tour that highlighted intermodal connections to Miami and noted a ribbon-cutting for Flow Spine at FAU Research Park.
Council member Wachter, participating remotely, reported on the first meeting of the city's audit committee and a series of housing authority community meetings about redevelopment and repositioning plans. Council member Thompson said she had no report.
The council approved routine items earlier in the meeting (minutes and the consent agenda were adopted by recorded voice votes) and closed public requests. The presiding officer adjourned the meeting at 03:43.
Next steps and public notes: residents should expect Wildflower and Silver Palm parks to be closed during Boca Bash; the city promoted a shredding event on Saturday at 6500 Congress from 9 a.m. to noon provided by Police Services.
