Cloud County commissioners on May 6 voted unanimously to add $33,856.50 in delinquent solid-waste charges to property owners’ tax statements for collection.
Solid Waste Director Mike Hake told the board the total includes $22,593 in delinquent principal and $11,263.50 in associated fees. He also reported wind damage to the county Recycling Center and Solid Waste buildings and said he is obtaining quotes to repair the facilities.
The motion to authorize the County Clerk to place the listed charges on property tax statements was made by Commissioner Michael Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Ron Copple and approved unanimously. The board did not set a repair timeline; Hake said repair quotes are pending.
Adding delinquent utility and service charges to tax statements is a standard collection mechanism the county uses to recover unpaid fees. The County Clerk’s office will carry out the addition to property tax statements as approved by the board.
