Cloud County approves $181,440.75 in expenses, reviews health-plan usage and budget requests

Cloud County commissioners on May 6 approved expenses totaling $181,440.75 and reviewed departmental budget requests and health-plan usage.

The board received a 2025 budget request from the County Appraiser for $82,750 (not including payroll) and approved expenditures across multiple funds: General Fund $39,350.29; Road & Bridge $66,730.32; Solid Waste $56,669.04; and smaller allocations among Special Alcohol & Drug, Juvenile Justice, Appraisal, Community Corrections, County Health, Noxious Weed, Election, Co Tourism & Convention, Employee Benefits and capital election accounts. The board also approved abatement 2024-95 with a net change of ($171.76) and a refund of $171.76, approved the April 29, 2024 minutes, and adjourned at 11:53 a.m. until May 13, 2024.

Separately, Health Department Administrator Tonya Sulanka and receptionist Katie Kearn reported 13 attendees at the Concordia bike rodeo, an upcoming Glasco bike rodeo on May 11 and a pancake feed at Nicol Nursing Home. Sulanka said the department has 41 active Home Health patients and has collected $68,221.58 from Medicare since January; a Medicare auditor was scheduled to visit May 8. Alisha Bond of Hub International presented the county’s mid-year usage review for employee health and dental coverage. The board named Katie Kearn Employee of the Month.
