Representative Mac Jackson delivers farewell, thanks colleagues after 18 years

Representative Mac Jackson used his morning remarks to announce his departure from the Georgia House after 18 years and to thank colleagues, staff and family for their support. Jackson recalled mentorship from colleagues, cited rural development wins such as broadband funding and a physician tax credit he sponsored for rural recruitment, and recounted personal anecdotes about working across the chamber.

Jackson invoked the legacy of Georgia’s original 33 Black legislators during Reconstruction and said he hopes the bridges he built "over these 18 years help someone else along the way." He recognized family members in the gallery and invited members to join him in the South Ante room for photos and brief remarks.

Speaker John Burns and other members responded with appreciation and invited members to visit Jackson’s family in the gallery. The House recessed for several ceremonial recognitions and later continued legislative business.
