The Huntington City Council voted to adopt Ordinance 2‑2026, updating Title 9 of the city code to formalize recent subdivision and zoning revisions and align local rules with current planning practices. Mayor (presiding) said the Planning Commission had reviewed the proposed revisions, held a public hearing and recommended adoption.
"The proposed revision update and clarifying zoning standards ensure consistency with current planning practices," the mayor said during the public hearing, noting the changes primarily put previously updated standards into ordinance form.
Councilmember Gloria moved to adopt the ordinance; the motion was seconded by Lisa (recorded as Lisa Tong). After a roll call, councilmembers voted in favor and the motion passed. The council closed the public hearing before taking the adoption vote.
City officials said the ordinance codifies changes previously prepared two years ago and reviewed by staff and the Planning Commission; the measure makes the city's subdivision regulations consistent with current planning practice and provides a consolidated, ordinance‑level reference for developers, staff and residents.
The council did not receive substantive public comment during the hearing. The mayor and staff said copies of the full revised Title 9 are available as Exhibit A and a summary of changes as Exhibit B. With adoption, the ordinance is recorded as Ordinance 2‑2026 and will be incorporated into the Huntington City Code.
