The Heard County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously March 23 to rezone 61 acres on Arrington Road from Rural Development to Agriculture, following a brief public hearing.
Barry McKee requested the rezoning to allow agricultural use of the property. Chairman Lee Boone opened the public hearing and heard McKee describe the intended agricultural purpose. The board closed the public hearing on a motion by Commissioner Larry Hooks, seconded by Commissioner Larry Hammond, and later approved the rezoning in New Business on a motion by Commissioner Gwen Caldwell with a second from Commissioner Larry Hammond.
County commissioners did not record any public opposition during the hearing. The zoning change is now approved by the board; the record shows the action passed by a unanimous vote. The board did not specify additional conditions or follow-up steps for the property in the minutes.
The action implements a local land-use change for the property on Arrington Road; any administrative steps required to update county zoning maps and records will be handled by county staff according to existing procedures.
