Londonderry to apply for DCNR grant to replace Sunset Park playground; $30,000 match proposed

Londonderry Township will apply for a Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) C2P2 grant to replace aging playground equipment at Sunset Park after the Board of Supervisors approved a resolution on March 20.

Manager David Blechertas said staffers Monique and Matt Naples obtained quotes showing the purchase and installation cost of three playground structures would be about $90,000. The DCNR grant would require a $30,000 township match; there is money in the township’s Parks and Recreation fund from the Vision Warehouse project earmarked for recreational improvements. The grant application deadline is April 3; the application carries a $40 environmental assessment fee.

The board voted unanimously to approve passing the resolution to apply. If the grant is awarded, the township will proceed with procurement to replace the specified playground equipment.
