The Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors on March 4 approved contracting and grant actions to support ongoing Conewago Creek restoration and maintenance work.
MS4 Specialist Monique Dykman told supervisors she requested authorization to contract with engineering firm HRG for a lump‑sum $10,000 to prepare and advertise bid specifications and oversee bidding for required operations and maintenance of Conewago Creek Phases 1–3. Dykman said the maintenance and monitoring contract is required by Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permits. Supervisor Anna Dale moved to approve the contract; Supervisor Mike Geyer seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Dykman also asked the board to sign a Susquehanna River Basin Commission Stream & Wetland Enhancement Grant agreement for $5,000 to support local stream and wetland work. Supervisor Mike Geyer moved to sign the grant; Supervisor Anna Dale seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Dykman reviewed other MS4 work: hosting a Conewago Creek Initiative water‑quality summit on Feb. 28, receiving construction closeout documents for the restoration, seeking quotes for riparian buffer maintenance on Swatara Creek Road, and coordinating an Earth Day event on April 21 at Lawn Community Park where attendees can receive native trees to plant.
The board’s approvals authorized staff to move forward with bidding and to accept the small SRBC grant to support local water‑quality and habitat work.
