Londonderry Township’s Board of Supervisors on April 17 approved a series of routine administrative and operational measures including a paving agreement, volunteer event authorization and fee schedule changes.
Manager David Blechertas asked the board to approve Resolution 2024‑10 to piggyback on Derry Township’s contract to repave about 250 feet of Shopes Church Road that lies inside Londonderry Township; he estimated the township’s portion would total between $25,000 and $30,000. The board voted unanimously to approve the intergovernmental agreement authorization.
The board also unanimously authorized Londonderry Township Volunteer Fire/Police to provide traffic control and emergency medical stand‑by at community events including the Make‑A‑Wish event, the Memorial Day Parade and the Arts and Crafts Fair in Middletown. Dean Hooper, captain of the volunteer fire/police unit, described the volunteers’ role at such events.
Other approvals included a 5% salary increase for part‑time code office employee Edward Kazlauskas and authorization of a quote from MPE Engineering to select a design firm to create specifications for major clubhouse roof and HVAC renovations at the Sunset Golf Course.
Finance staff presented open purchase orders and fund balances and the board approved payment: General Fund $103,686.99; Golf Course Fund $128,234.22; Debt Service Fund $13,168.86; total $245,090.07. Codes and Zoning Officer Duane Brady reviewed a new Rental Program Standard Operating Guideline and the board amended the 2024 fee schedule by approving Resolution 2024‑09 to add rental permit fees; Brady said licensing review and approval would take approximately 30 business days.
Manager Blechertas reported the township is waiting on FEMA for closure of the Community Assistance Visit (CAV) after submitting additional requested information. The board granted the Dauphin County Conservation District permission to use the township building for a public outreach meeting. Public Works noted vandalism to bridge weight‑limit signs on Zion Road and planned replacements before the weekend. Engineers reported outreach to DTMA seeking updates on public sewer connections to Pine Manor and Cedar Manor and that cost estimates for Swatara Creek Road reconstruction are being prepared.
Chair Bart Shellenhamer adjourned the work session at 10:24 p.m.
