The Senate Judiciary Committee on March 20 adopted a committee substitute for Senate Bill 237 and voted to send the bill from committee with individual recommendations and an attached fiscal note.
Brianna Kark, aide to Senator Klayman, told the committee that in work draft version N the only change was to subsection g (page 2, lines 6–7), which she said was amended "to read that the department shall, upon the request of a person or the person's designee, furnish information about the person," tightening who may request the information. Committee members raised no further questions on that change before the committee adopted the working document.
Senator Kiel moved that the Judiciary Committee report SB 237 (committee substitute, work draft version N) from committee with individual recommendations and attached fiscal notes. Hearing no objection, Chair Senator Klayman announced the bill "moves from committee." The committee did not record a roll‑call vote in the transcript; the chair recorded the action as taken by unanimous consent.
The committee did not take further action on SB 237 during the March 20 meeting. Next steps mentioned in the hearing record included preparing paperwork and returning the bill to the Senate calendar for further action.
