Duchesne County approves $306,750.56 in vouchers, a tax adjustment and penalty waiver for Farm Creek Meats; 15 volunteers appointed

Duchesne County commissioners approved several routine and administrative items on March 16, including vendor vouchers, a tax adjustment, a penalty waiver for a local business and a slate of volunteers.

Deputy Clerk-Auditor Oaklee Larsen presented vouchers for March 16, 2026 (checks 1722902E172355) totaling $306,750.56; Commissioner Tracy Killian moved to approve the vouchers as presented and the motion carried unanimously (3-0).

Treasurer Stephen Potter presented a tax adjustment for parcel 00-0035-0370, explaining the parcel had been combined with 00-0035-0523 in 2024 but a credit was not applied, creating a double taxation; the commission approved a credit of $1,218.84.

Bjourn Carlson of Farm Creek Meats described a recent audit finding that a freezer inside his building was classified as personal property and that some housing had been misclassified as secondary rather than primary; the commission voted to waive penalties and interest and authorized the Treasurer's Office to negotiate a payment plan.

Human Resource Generalist Tommi Mascaro presented a list of 15 volunteer appointments; Commissioner Jeff Chugg moved to approve the volunteers and the motion passed unanimously. Commissioners also approved the March 9, 2026 minutes as amended.
