Calhoun County commissioners on March 28 authorized several procurement actions and vendor agreements, including a $343,369 engineering contract for the Alexandria‑Wellington Road Bridge and extensions for routine vehicle-maintenance contracts.
Administrator Mark Tyner presented a professional services agreement with Atlas Technical Consultants for $343,369 to provide engineering services on the Alexandria‑Wellington Road Bridge project. The commission also authorized a separate Atlas agreement for professional engineering on the McClellan Road Branch project in the amount of $35,526. Both authorizations were approved by unanimous voice vote.
Tyner also presented a resolution awarding the Vehicle Maintenance & Repair – Oil Change/Computer Diagnostic bid to Cooper Chevrolet Buick as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; the commission adopted that resolution. The commission approved a one-year extension of the Vehicle Maintenance & Repair – Transmissions bid with Alexandria Brake and Muffler (April 1, 2024–March 31, 2025) at no change in price, and approved a one-year extension of the Sheriff's Vehicles Equipment bid with Dana Safety Supply (April 14, 2024–April 13, 2025) at no change in price.
The commission additionally authorized the chairman to sign an agreement with Alabama Power Company for lighting services at the Alexandria Youth Complex in District 4 and approved an agreement allowing Calhoun County Fair, Inc. to use the AgriCenter for a county-wide fair April 15–27, 2024.
All procurement motions and agreements were approved by unanimous voice vote. Staff will proceed to finalize contracts and document project timelines and scopes in contract files.
