The Calhoun County Commission on April 11 adopted several resolutions and procurement awards by unanimous voice vote.
Procurement and contract actions approved:
- Public Nuisance Removal/Demolition bid awarded to the lowest responsive bidders, Wendy Thornton and Belle It Out (resolution adopted on motion by Commissioner Fred Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Terry Howell).
- Body/collision repairs for county vehicles awarded to Alexandria Body Shop (motion by Commissioner Lee Patterson, second by Commissioner Howell).
Surplus and donation actions:
- A Xerox copier assigned to the Appraisal Department was declared surplus and authorized for sale via GovDeals (adopted on motion by Commissioner Howell, seconded by Commissioner Wilson).
- A 2021 Kubota mower assigned to the Highway Department was declared surplus and donated to the Pleasant Valley High School softball program; Commissioner Lee Patterson praised the donation as an "excellent thing." (motion adopted unanimously).
- A 2016 Kubota mower assigned to the County Commission was declared surplus and authorized for sale via GovDeals.
Intergovernmental/private partnership:
- The commission authorized an MOU with McWhorter to allow fencing, a covered structure and donated labor at the county Animal Control facility at no cost to the county. Commissioner Howell moved to authorize the chairman to sign; Commissioner Patterson seconded and Howell thanked McWhorter for their support.
Procedural items:
- The agenda and prior meeting minutes were adopted by unanimous voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 10:18 a.m.
