District administration reviewed a draft strategic plan (year 4 of a five-year cycle) that lays out six core objectives and associated annual action steps and timelines. The plan was presented for board feedback and will be returned to the board for approval on May 22 or at a subsequent meeting depending on requested edits.
Key objectives include: (1) comprehensive academic/curricular planning tied to ACT/preACT data and a proposed curriculum audit; (2) expanded use of collaborative professional learning communities and standards-based grading with focused SLOs tied to low-performing standards; (3) increased family and community engagement including website modernization and promotional materials; (4) school culture and expanded professional development for support staff; (5) sustainable, proactive operational planning with clearer capital vs. operating distinctions for potential future referenda; and (6) facilities and grounds prioritization with a five-year rolling plan.
Administrators emphasized the plan is intended to be action-oriented, with measurable annual objectives (for example, increasing Xello use and adding at least five community fitness memberships) and specific owner assignments. They said staff will return with progress reports and that objective-specific metrics and timelines will be refined with board feedback.
The administration will bring a revised draft and a recommended approval date (May 22 or in June) to the board for a formal vote.
