Mantua approves $799 monthly lease to expand Verizon equipment on town property

The Mantua Town Council approved an expansion to an existing communications lease that will allow Verizon to add equipment on town property. Planning and Zoning Chair Pam Eaves described the proposal to allocate an additional 360 square feet within the Crown Castle-controlled site and said Verizon would pay $799 per month with a 5% annual escalation; a building permit has already been issued and Eaves requested immediate approval of the monthly rate to begin legal drafting for an amended lease.

Council Member Scott Ross moved to approve the proposed additional $799 per month with Mayor Pro Tempore Matt Jeppsen seconding; the motion passed 4–0. Crown Castle remains the primary leaseholder for the approximately 10,000-square-foot site; the amended lease will return for signature at the next meeting after legal drafting is complete.
