Jessica Jordan introduced herself as a nominee to the New Castle County Diversity Commission and described a personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. "First of all, thank you guys so much for having me today. This is an honor and a privilege," Jordan said, adding that reestablishing the commission and working toward "belonging" will benefit Delawareans.
Council members said the commission has been "kind of dormant" and expressed hope Jordan will help renew its activity. They thanked her for volunteering and emphasized the county is committed to DEI initiatives despite national debates. As with the other appointments on the agenda, the chair said the nomination will be subject to a formal vote next week and staff will follow up with Jordan after that vote.
Jordan is a lifelong Delawarean who described growing up in Kent County and later moving to Newark; she said her personal experiences informed her interest in serving on the commission.
