Anaconda Deer Lodge County commissioners placed several routine leadership and representative appointments on the upcoming agenda and handled other business.
The chair introduced an item to appoint the board chair for 2025 and then an item to appoint a vice chair; both items were opened for discussion and public comment and placed on the agenda for future action. The board then reviewed commissioner assignments to county boards, including the Economic Development Board and Motorist Golf Course Board.
The chair argued the county should remove a so-called sewer committee from the list of commissioner representatives because that committee was never authorized by ordinance and functions as an administrative entity under the chief executive. He cited Ordinance 255’s language about appeals and administrative investigation as the reason that matter is an administrative process rather than a commissioner-appointed board.
Commissioners also touched briefly on a task order to the county’s master contract with Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services related to environmental health and food-safety licensing; staff member Chad was not present, and commissioners asked that he attend a future meeting for further explanation.
The board considered a reappointment request to the DUI Task Force from Vera Horshai and expressed support for the reappointment. The chair read a calendar of upcoming county meetings and a motion to adjourn was recorded in the transcript; the meeting record did not include a vote tally for that motion.
