Megan told the Urban Renewal Agency on March 19 that the Idaho Legislature appeared to be entering its final phase and that staff were tracking key bills that may affect local taxing districts and service districts.
"We do appear to be entering into the final phase of the legislative session," Megan said, noting that some budgets are being adopted and that staff continue to watch efforts to address House Bill 389, which would address recent budget constraints of the local taxing districts, and House Bill 670, which addresses fire and EMS districts. Megan said the bills remain active and are being monitored for potential effects on local taxing entities.
Megan advised that, because the executive-director update was included only in the packet and not listed as a staff report on the agenda, an oral presentation by the executive director was not appropriate at this meeting; the board agreed to add an executive-director report as a regular agenda item moving forward.
