Teachers honored; middle school recertified as Arkansas 'School to Watch'

The Alma School District board spent part of its Feb. 12 meeting recognizing teachers and announcing the middle school's redesignation.

Board members called forward building Teachers of the Year and praised individual staff for classroom management, mentoring, and extracurricular leadership. Jennifer Anderson (speaker 6) was introduced and described as serving special-education students in fourth grade and mentoring newly inducted special-education teachers. Keith Reeves was recognized for his work as a middle-school choir director and for producing strong student results.

The board also noted that the middle school underwent an external visit tied to an Arkansas Diamond 'School to Watch' designation; the speakers said the visiting team was impressed and that the school was recertified. Speakers said the review highlighted strengths and also identified growth areas the school will address.

Comments were celebratory and focused on the staff contributions that produced the designation. No formal vote was required for recognitions.
