The board accepted two personnel resignations that were read into the record. A resignation letter from Allison Bailey, read by administration, said she was resigning as elementary reading interventionist at East Troy Community School District effective for the 2024–25 school year and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to start her career in the district. A second letter from Laura VanderWeed, also read aloud by administration, requested resignation as a special-education teacher effective 04/08/2024 because of medical complications and surgery.
Administration recommended that the board accept both resignations; a motion was made and seconded and the motion carried. The board offered thanks and good wishes for the departing staff.
Announcements: The board recognized outgoing member Dale Ames for three years of service and said Kevin Bong will be sworn in at the April 22 meeting. Administration also read a press release noting the district received a $29,000 Wisconsin Fast Forward grant to support its advanced manufacturing pathway; officials said the district is the only Walworth County recipient.
Other business: Administration clarified an earlier-approved FFA leadership-conference overnight trip involves seven middle-school students and does not require reapproval.
What’s next: Personnel and contract items listed for closed session; open-session follow-up will occur after closed-session discussions.
