The Lee County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on May 21 to rezone a 0.92‑acre parcel in Woodway from R‑1 (single family) to B‑1 (limited business) to allow a miniature golf course and a food truck.
Applicant Matthew J. Harris (speaker 11) told the board he has been working on the property for more than two years and said the project will clean up the site and add a recreation option for school trips and local visitors. "This is going to be a challenging course...and it'd be kind of along the lines of, like, even a nature walk," Harris said, describing the site's trees, rocks and contours.
Planning staff told the board the planning commission recommended approval unanimously. A board member moved to approve the rezoning and the motion passed by voice vote without opposition.
Why it matters: the rezoning converts a residential parcel to limited business use, permitting activities such as the proposed recreation and food service. The board’s vote allows the applicant to pursue permits consistent with B‑1 zoning.
Next steps: the applicant may proceed with permitting consistent with the B‑1 district; staff and the applicant will follow routine permitting processes.
