Rules Committee advances several governor appointments, approves procedural measures

The Senate Committee on Rules handled several governor'appointed nominees on its agenda and approved routine procedural measures.

Appointments not required to appear were acted on in grouped items. The committee approved multiple nominees to the Board of Behavioral Sciences and the Contractors State License Board; several of those items carried unanimous 5-0 votes while others were reported as 3-2. The Medical Board of California nominees were approved by unanimous 5-0 roll calls.

Procedurally, the committee approved referral of bills to standing committees and granted a rule waiver to suspend SR55 so guests may be on the Senate floor for the March 19 session and to permit an adjournment in memory of former President Pro Tempore John Burton. Both actions were reported as 5-0.
