The Heard County Board of Commissioners on March 18 approved a series of routine operational purchases and adopted a proclamation recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The Board voted unanimously to accept a $10,906.50 quote from Modern Network Solutions to replace access-control equipment (key fobs, card readers, push exits and related devices) at the Jail, the Sheriff’s Office and the county 9-1-1 facilities. The motion was made by Commissioner Larry Hammond and seconded by Commissioner James Perry.
Commissioners also approved two bush hogs for the Road Department under a John Deere quote totaling $48,710.20 (motion by Commissioner Larry Hammond; second by Commissioner David Walls), and an 18-dumpster purchase from Iron Container for $17,026 (motion by Commissioner Larry Hammond; second by Commissioner David Walls). The Recreation Department will receive standard portable toilets under a contract with Georgia Container Portable Toilets of Georgia at $68.50 per 28-day billing cycle; that agreement is recorded to run through Nov. 1, 2025 (motion by Commissioner Larry Hammond; second by Commissioner David Walls).
The Board adopted a proclamation designating April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month (motion by Commissioner David Walls; second by Commissioner James Perry). The meeting record shows no public comments, no executive session, and no objections to the actions recorded. The Board approved the February 18, 2025 minutes at the start of the meeting.
