Argo police logged 508 calls in February; Liles Lane work set to start March 10

Police and fire chiefs reported routine operational activity at the Argo City Council work session on March 9, 2026. Police Chief Alan Busler told the council the department handled 508 calls in February 2026, said Sgt Jack Como will reduce his hours to weekends and court duties, and confirmed that Officer Austin Burns has been hired to fill an open officer position.

Fire Chief Scott Payne reported the Fire Department responded to 47 calls in February and said crews will test all hydrants during March. Mayor Randy Hettich also told the council that the Liles Lane Extension Project is scheduled to begin March 10, 2026, with an expected duration of two weeks. He provided a brief ATRIP update, saying Norfolk and ALDOT are in communication and that additional information will be shared with the council as it becomes available.
