House Appropriations Committee advances four bills to Committee of the Whole

The Colorado House Appropriations Committee voted to advance four bills to the Committee of the Whole during a routine meeting; amendment J-001 to House Bill 1005 was adopted on a voice/roll-call motion and the committee recorded final recommendations for all four bills.

Madam Vice Chair moved amendment J-001 to House Bill 1005 and the committee adopted it after a roll-call vote that passed 8 to 3. During discussion the vice chair said, “In the interest of saving people money.” The committee then voted to recommend House Bill 1005, as amended, to the Committee of the Whole, the clerk recorded the motion as passing on a vote of 8 to 3.

For House Bill 1026, sponsors said they had no amendments and committee members asked no questions. The committee voted to send HB1026 to the Committee of the Whole with a favorable recommendation; the poll was recorded as passing 10 to 1 (the chair later corrected the count to 10 to 1).

Representatives Stewart and Cukla introduced House Bill 1051; sponsors offered no amendments and the committee voted 10 to 1 to advance the bill to the Committee of the Whole with a favorable recommendation.

Chair Brown invited Representative Gilchrist to speak on House Bill 1002; sponsors had no amendments. Chair Brown moved that HB1002 be sent to the Committee of the Whole with a favorable recommendation, and the committee approved the motion on a vote of 10 to 1.

All roll-call votes were conducted by the committee clerk (Miss Pope). After the recorded votes and brief wrap-up, Chair Brown adjourned the Appropriations Committee.
