The Fulshear City Council voted on March 17 to approve an interlocal agreement with Fort Bend County for administration of the May 2, 2026 general and special elections, including the council and a sales-tax reallocation special election.
Staff said the county calculated the city's pro rata cost at roughly $18,000, a figure described in the meeting as lower than past years. Key administrative dates discussed: the last day to request mail-in ballots and the start of early voting are both April 20; early voting will continue through April 28. The county-designated early-voting locations cited in the presentation include the Fort Bend ESC No. 4 building, a nearby fire station, the Fulshear Library, and Jordan High School for election day voting.
Council motioned and approved the agreement on a voice vote; the minutes record unanimous "Aye" responses and the chair declared the motion passed. Councilmembers discussed timing for canvassing results and expressed hope there would be no runoffs given two candidates for the contested seats.
Next steps: Staff will coordinate with the county and post election information on the city website, and the council expects to canvass results at the May regular meeting.
