The Holmes County Board of County Commissioners approved a second‑hearing amendment on March 17 to change the future land‑use designation of a roughly 1.012‑acre parcel along Highway 173 from agriculture to commercial so an existing towing and recovery operation can be allowed to operate from the site.
Planning staff described the request as an amendment to the Holmes County comprehensive plan (identified in staff remarks as an ordinance referenced in the record) and said the Planning Commission had recommended unanimous approval at its February hearing. The applicant was identified as Eric Williamson.
"The applicant runs a tow and recovery business that is not allowed in agriculture," planning staff stated, noting the parcel and its legal description. Staff recommended approval and the board moved and seconded the ordinance amendment. Commissioners present voted to approve the request.
Planning staff said this was the second hearing, listed the parcel identification in the record and noted the effective date provisions included in the ordinance language. No conditions, variances or additional bonding requirements were recorded in the public portion of the meeting.
