Rush County approves $247,211 additional appropriation and salary-ordinance adjustments

Rush County authorized an additional appropriation of $247,211 and approved amendments to the county salary ordinance to correct previously miscalculated annual pay amounts for several positions, including sheriff deputies, a 9-1-1 dispatcher and a correctional officer.

An official told the board the appropriation had been advertised and that the salary adjustments were necessary because the annual amounts shown in prior records did not match hourly-rate calculations; the changes were described as retroactive to Jan. 1. "So, the sheriff deputies base pay was based on .6 pay ... also the 9-1-1 dispatcher ... and also the correction officer," the presenter said while explaining the need to increase the annualized amounts.
