Oakley’s City Council on March 11 voted unanimously to accept an independent audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, after an in-person presentation by auditor Heather Christofferson of Ulrich & Associates.
Christofferson told the council the firm was issuing a clean opinion and that the financial statements “present fairly in all material respects.” She said the city’s net position was about $9.4 million at year-end and noted the governmental activities showed a net change in position of negative $447,000 while business-type funds (water, sewer, rodeo) were positive. She also flagged a restricted recreation grant balance and encouraged continued timely posting of approved minutes.
Councilman Smart moved to accept the audit “as presented by Heather Christofferson of Ulrich & Associates”; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Mayor Welmouth thanked Christofferson for the work and for earlier coordination with city staff.
The audit, Christofferson said, is a look at finances as of June 30, 2025, and “is not a current review of your finances” but remains the formal, independent record for that fiscal year. The council did not request further findings and accepted the auditor’s recommendation to continue certain administrative practices.
The council’s action sends the audit into the city record and clears the document for any follow-up reporting or public posting required by state law.
