Council members told the March 16 meeting that Dixie Power will replace several poles on a town street in April and that the work will require a brief outage, likely on a Tuesday or Wednesday after spring break and lasting approximately six hours. Town officials said they will notify residents once Dixie schedules the specific date and time.
Members also raised concerns about the condition of timbers at a nearby substation. One council member described visible sway during windstorms and urged attention to the structure. "It looks like it could fall," a council member said, describing observed movement; another noted the substation poles appear to be from the same original batch installed decades ago and that the underground condition is not visible from the surface.
Town staff confirmed that four poles in the substation had been recently tested and that Dixie indicated comfort with their current condition, though replacement of several poles on the adjacent street is planned.
Next steps: town staff will coordinate notice to affected residents once Dixie schedules the pole-replacement work and will continue monitoring the substation condition with the utility.
