The Riverside City Council proclaimed March as Arts & Culture Month and recognized the city’s arts organizations for programming that supports tourism, creative economy and youth engagement.
Arts representatives and staff described local events, workshops and partnerships — including festivals, public-art projects, a Fox Foundation-sponsored workshop and a Google training for business owners — and highlighted the city’s selection as one of 10 communities acknowledged by the county arts council. Margie Hub and arts-council representatives explained how arts programming reaches diverse age groups and supports economic development.
“Arts and culture enrich the lives of residents and visitors, and contribute to economic and educational opportunities,” the presenters said during the proclamation reading. The mayor read the formal proclamation and attendees posed for a photo with council leadership.
Why it matters: The proclamation signals the city’s support for arts and culture as part of economic development, tourism and community-building and may help arts organizations secure visibility and partnerships.
What’s next: Arts staff and council will continue to promote March programming and coordinate related events across the city; no budgetary actions were proposed during the proclamation presentation.
