Fulton County commissioners on Dec. 30, 2025 approved a State Interconnectivity Grant in the amount of $230,699.51 to support regional emergency communications maintenance and upgrades. EMA/911 Director Brian Barton presented the grant request; HR Administrator Mary Huston joined the discussion.
The grant is designated to be used toward the following projects: SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrades, and Fulton ILEC maintenance. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant; the motion passed unanimously.
Separately, Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to hire Troy Wagaman as a per-diem 911 dispatcher, effective pending required background clearances. A brief Salary Board meeting at 9:48 a.m. set the salary for the newly hired per-diem dispatcher. Both actions were recorded in the minutes as voice votes with the notation "All in favor."
The grant and hiring are intended to support Fulton County's emergency communications capacity; the minutes do not record specific implementation timelines, salary amounts, or the identity of the salary set in open minutes. Commissioners indicated they will retain Keller Engineer, Inc. for 2026 by agreement and that a formal appointment will be made at the Jan. 6, 2026 reorganizational meeting.
