The Plantation City Council on March 11 reapproved a site plan for a two‑story, 12,844‑square‑foot mixed‑use building that includes a 4,501‑square‑foot daycare and a 1,490‑square‑foot house of worship, and it approved a conditional‑use request for a 10,000‑square‑foot dine‑in buffet at North Pine Island Road.
Dan Holmes, Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Director, summarized the Chabad application as a reapproval of a previously approved plan on a little‑over‑1‑acre site west of Nob Hill Road. Holmes said the plan has returned several times since 2016 and staff found the current request consistent with the code and recommended reapproval. "To date we've seen no objections with regard to the proposed request," Holmes said.
Councilmembers moved and seconded the motion to reapprove the Chabad site plan; roll call votes were recorded in favor and council members invited the applicant to schedule a ribbon cutting once construction is complete.
On the Chow’s Country Buffet conditional use, Holmes told the council that restaurants over 4,000 square feet require council permission and that staff had noticed 121 surrounding properties and had received no written objections. The council approved the conditional use and encouraged the applicant on the plaza’s revitalization timetable; staff estimated permitting and build‑out could be completed by fall.
Both items passed by roll call vote during the meeting.
