Commission authorizes chair to sign fire agreements and agrees to support sheriff grant requests

The Garfield County Commission voted to authorize the chair to sign a set of fire-management agreements presented by the state lands representative.

A state official asked the commission to approve three items—the order agreement, the CW-house agreement and a shared budget arrangement—and the chair asked for a motion to sign the fire agreements. A commissioner moved to authorize the chair to sign the agreement, a second was recorded, and the motion carried on a voice vote.

Separately, commissioners discussed the sheriff’s request for a letter of support for a grant application; commissioners agreed to coordinate with the sheriff to prepare that letter. The chair instructed staff to finalize and file the signed agreements and to assist the sheriff’s office in preparing its grant materials.
