A land use committee member reported to the full council that the committee has continued the rezoning process for property east of 5th East and has scheduled a public hearing at the council's next meeting. Committee members said the proposal includes future street layouts and that forwarding the rezoning preserves opportunities for lot development if the applicant agrees to the proposed street plan.
The same committee forwarded a WUI (Wildland-Urban Interface) ordinance to the council with one correction related to census highlights; the committee recommended the council review and consider the ordinance at an upcoming meeting.
Committee members also noted a pending business-license request that will return next month when the applicant is present. The council did not take final action on the rezoning at this meeting and will hold the public hearing before voting.
The land use committee member also raised a local concern about storage containers and requested city communications address rules on where residents may place shipping containers on private property.
