Castle View Hospital donates $7,500 to All‑Abilities Park; council approves community event support

Mark Holyoak, chief executive officer of Castle View Hospital, presented a $7,500 donation to Castle Dale's All‑Abilities Park project and reiterated the hospital's support for the accessible‑playground effort. Mayor Danny Van Wagoner thanked the hospital for its continuing partnership as the council and attendees acknowledged the project's community value.

Terri Bennett, representing the Emery County Mountain Bike Club (MECCA), described the group's nearly 40‑year history of trail building, youth safety rodeos and a family‑friendly spring festival. She asked the city for a $250 silver‑level sponsorship. Council member Joel Dorsch moved to provide the $250 support; Council member Michael Jorgensen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Julie Janus, representing Joe's Valley Climbing and Community nonprofit, requested free use of the park pavilion for a May 2–3 endurance climbing event and the outdoor arena and visitor center for an Oct. 1–4 bouldering festival and registration. Janus said the events support overnight stays and local businesses; the mayor noted countywide event revenue and cited $152,000 attributed to Joe's Valley festivals last year. Council member Joel Dorsch moved to donate the requested facilities and services; Council member Bradley Giles seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

The council recorded these actions as part of routine agenda items supporting local recreation and economic activity. No conditions or fees were attached to the motions approving the sponsorship and facility donations.
