County approves contracts, bills and budget amendments; hires and appointments recorded

The Mackinac County Board of Commissioners approved multiple financial and administrative items at its May 9 meeting, including regular bills of $34,910.98, manual bills of $30,781.15, and additional bills of $282,409.06. The board also approved Circuit Court jury payments of $5,377.63 and budget amendments #2024.15, #2024.16 and #2024.17.

Commissioner Mike Patrick moved to approve the regular and manual bills and Commissioner Corina Clark seconded; roll-call votes recorded YES votes from Corina Clark, Jodi Kaiser, Mike Patrick and Judy St. Louis-Scott with Commissioner Dan Litzner absent. The additional bills, jury payments and budget amendments were also approved by roll call.

The board approved a contract extension for bookkeeping services with Anderson Tackman (presented by Treasurer Jennifer Goudreau) and approved an overtime request from Friend of the Court Josh Freed for staff member April Blair (15 hours per pay period for up to three months) because of short staffing. Commissioners also appointed three members to the Manistique Lakes Dam Authority (Ross Abram, Kevin Orlovsky and Becky Brockman).

Commissioner reports included an update on a housing project environmental survey and planning next steps with the city, and a report from the MAC spring conference with information the commissioner said would be circulated to the board. The meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
