Cedar Park—Council approved a professional engineering services agreement with Freese and Nichols, not to exceed $1,152,894, to design drainage and associated street and utility improvements in the Riviera Springs East subdivision.
Randy Lieters, director of engineering capital projects, said the project is a high priority in the stormwater master plan and will combine roadside ditch work, storm sewer, pavement treatments and replacement of aged water and wastewater lines. "Part of the first step of that was to do preliminary engineering... and so at this point, we're ready to start design and get going, and staff would recommend authorization to execute an agreement with Freese and Nichols not to exceed $1,152,894," Lieters told the council.
Council members asked about funding sources and whether the work would draw from the stormwater fund or the general fund; staff replied the project is funded from stormwater bond proceeds and utility funds for water line work, not the general fund.
A motion to approve the agreement carried 6–0 with one council member absent. Staff said design will proceed and future council approvals will be required for construction contracts and any budget adjustments.
