ETSU trustees approve consent agenda; finance committee reports zero percent tuition increase for College of Medicine

The East Tennessee State University Board of Trustees approved routine business by voice vote during its Feb. 20, 2025 meeting, and the finance committee reported a number of budgetary items for board information.

Trustees approved the minutes of the November meeting after a motion and voice vote; no roll-call tally was provided in the meeting transcript. Later, after asking whether any consent-agenda items should be pulled, the chair called for a motion to adopt the consent agenda; a trustee moved, the motion was seconded and the consent agenda carried by voice vote.

Trustee DeCarlo reported that the finance committee approved a 0% tuition increase for the College of Medicine for the 2026–27 academic year, saying the college will "absorb inflationary costs to efficiencies, reserves, and other revenue sources in order to maintain affordability for medical students." DeCarlo presented quarter-to-date financial information as informational material: total assets were described as nearing $966,000,000, long-term liabilities were stable and reserves were near 12% of the E&G budget. He said the committee reviewed agreements over $250,000 (four processed this quarter) and noted one RFP in process.
