Fulton County adopts 2026 budget with no tax increase

Fulton County commissioners unanimously adopted the county's proposed 2026 budget and approved a tax levy resolution that keeps tax rates unchanged for the coming fiscal year.

Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute Resolution 8 of 2025, the Tax Levy and Appropriation Resolution, which the board approved with no increase in taxes for fiscal year 2026. The board then voted to adopt the proposed 2026 budget as presented by CFO Mike Lamb and Fiscal Administrator Sue Reed; Reed told the board there were no changes since the budget's public advertisement.

Earlier in the meeting Commissioner Hann moved to approve account payables dated Dec. 30, 2025, totaling $112,913.87, including $98,764.92 in the General Fund and $14,148.95 in Debt Service; that motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Wible moved to approve the December 2025 pension report as presented by HR Administrator Mary Huston, and the board also approved the pension report.

The board also approved an agreement to retain Keller Engineer, Inc. for fiscal year 2026; commissioners indicated the firm will be formally appointed at the county's reorganizational meeting on Jan. 6, 2026.

The actions complete the board's principal fiscal business for the year; there were no proposed tax increases and no amendments to the advertised budget during the meeting.
