Fulton County commissioners approved a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support NG911 and related systems maintenance, and they approved hiring a per‑diem 911 dispatcher.
EMA/911 Director Brian Barton and HR Administrator Mary Huston presented the grant request and identified the planned uses: SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade, and Fulton ILEC maintenance. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant agreement for $230,699.51; the board voted unanimously in favor.
The board also approved the hiring of Troy Wagaman as a per‑diem 911 dispatcher, effective pending clearances. A brief Salary Board meeting at 9:48 a.m. set the salary for the newly hired per‑diem dispatcher. The commissioners entered executive session at 10:01 a.m. for personnel matters and exited at 10:29 a.m.; the meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
The grant approval funds multiple maintenance and system upgrades that support the county's emergency communications infrastructure; the hire is intended to augment dispatcher capacity pending required background checks and clearances.
