The Joint Committee on Housing and Economic Development voted unanimously in a work session on March 13 to recommend that LD292 ‘‘ought not to pass.’’ The sponsor asked the panel to record that recommendation and a motion to that effect was made and seconded.
The clerk conducted a roll-call vote and recorded unanimous support for the motion among members present. After the vote Sen. Chip Curry closed the LD292 work session.
Why it matters: LD292 was submitted as part of the broader right-to-repair package the committee has considered. The committee’s recommendation against the bill means it is not likely to advance from this committee in its current form unless reworked.
What’s next: The committee proceeded to other bills on its agenda, including a presentation and work sessions on bills addressing the blue economy and industrialized housing.
