The Emery County Travel Bureau voted to renew Colossal Media’s contract for social and event marketing, approving a $1,000‑per‑month agreement that staff said is already budgeted through the state marketing co‑op. Staff presented the contract as unchanged from the prior year except for one amendment: the vendor will attend monthly event‑team meetings to improve direction from the county.
Staff member said the arrangement has been “completely, a 100% beneficial” to the bureau and that the cost — $12,000 for the year — fits in the marketing budget. The staff presentation noted the contract can be extended after five years subject to budget and grant funding requirements.
During discussion, one attendee disclosed a run for county commissioner and said the campaign and staff had discussed potential conflicts of interest and taken steps for transparency. “So it’s no secret that I am also running for county commissioner … we just wanted to put it out there, so that everybody’s aware,” the participant said; staff replied that they had reviewed the matter and were comfortable moving forward.
Robin moved to approve the contract; David Wilson seconded. The board approved the renewal by roll‑call vote with no recorded opposition.
The bureau’s staff said they would continue monthly coordination with the vendor and that any substantial changes to scope or spending would return to the board for review.
